Lifesavers pull Bulldogs players from water
LIFESAVERS pulled several Western Bulldogs premiership stars from the Lorne surf on Wednesday as conditions deteriorated.
The club said no player required rescuing but that lifesavers and club officials had acted pre-emptively.
"Part of the end-of-camp training activity was to do some water sports and they were doing a swim and a paddleboard in pairs,” Dogs football director Chris Grant said.
"Due to cold and windy conditions, we decided the guys swimming would be brought out of the water in boats to avoid any concerns for their safety.”
Players had been swimming near the Lorne pier and were about 50 metres off shore when pulled from the water.
The Bulldogs will complete an intense three-day Surf Coast training camp tomorrow.
