Lanes reduced at new Stanthorpe roundabout
AS the southern entry of Stanthorpe roundabout draws closer to completion traffic on Wallangarra road will be reduced to a single lane.
From January 14 to April left-turn manoeuvres from the New England Highway onto Wallangarra Road will be restricted, with traffic flow on the Wallangarra Road being controlled by signals.
The lane closure will enable works to be carried out on the new $9.1 million roundabout, located at the intersection of the New England Highway and Wallangarra Road which is due to be completed in April this year.
Transport and Main Roads (TMR) Darling Downs District Director Dereck Sanderson said the traffic changes were necessary while rock-breaking works were carried out.
"The construction team has encountered significant rock at the site and the decision has been made to change the traffic arrangements at the site to maintain public safety,” Mr Sanderson said.
"There may be some traffic delays during this closure so please allow a little extra time when travelling in this area.”
The lane closure will not affect the New England Highway and will remain open at all times.
