STANTHORPE'S Ky Rashleigh was put to the test when he played with the South West Mustangs at the recent Central Crows Carnival.

The Under-14s player enjoyed a place in the carnival's winning team at the event in Gladstone from June 2-4.

Stanthorpe Junior Rugby League president Lindsay Adams said Ky, who was playing for the Mustangs for the first time, put on a good show. Adams said Ky played a range of positions throughout the carnival.

He said they played three games and the strong side came out on top.

"They did well to win,” Adams said.

He said this was a highly competitive carnival and Ky would likely be able to bring back new skills to share with his Junior Gremlins teammates.

"The hope is, for us, that he comes back to the club with that he's learned,” Adams said.

While some of his Mustangs teammates made it to the Central Coast side and the next level of representative games, Adams said they were happy with the skills Ky had shown over the weekend.

Adams said the club was proud he had the opportunity to represent the region.

"The club's very proud of him getting to that level,” he said.

"It was still really good for him to play.”

Ky's father Rob Rashleigh went along to watch the carnival and was proud of his son's efforts.

"I was very proud and it was really good to watch him up in that level of football,” Rashleigh said.

While he was disappointed not to be selected for the next level, Rashleigh said his son was still thrilled with the chance to play with the Mustangs.

He said Ky's passion for rugby league had echoed his own love of the game.

"He is very passionate about the game,” he said.

"It was really good and he did really well.”
