Kindy kids rejoice in new bathroom

THE children at Warwick Community Kindergarten were pleased to find a sparkling new bathroom awaiting them when they returned from their Christmas break.

President Kerri Walters said the bathroom facilities were in desperate need of an upgrade and the kindergarten was fortunate enough to secure a grant to cover half the costs.

“We received funding from the Department of Education Community Kindergarten Assistance Scheme for 50% of the project and we supplied the other 50%,” Mrs Walters said.

“Either way, they would have had to be done; it was just nice we got the grant to help us out.”

In 2008 the kindy had two of the toilets replaced, but Mrs Walters said the ageing facilities needed further attention.

“The building we are in now was moved over in 1997, so we estimate the bathroom facilities must have been at least 30 years old.”

Work began on the toilets in the second week of January and was completed last week, just in time for the beginning of the school term.

“We had two local tradespeople do the work – Brian Bunch Plumbing and Ken O’Dea Floor Coverings,” Mrs Walters said.

The Community Kindergarten is still taking enrolments for pre-prep children for 2011.
