KATE Middleton isn't immune to the occasional parenting fail.

According to Hello!, the Duchess of Cambridge took Prince George and Princess Charlotte to buy some new school shoes at a London store a couple of weeks ago.

But 36-year-old Kate made a rookie error, which practically every parent can relate to, by forgetting to pack a pair of socks for her little ones to change into.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte were wearing sandals and no socks during the British heatwave.

And they had to borrow a pair each in order to try on their new school shoes, The Sun reports.

This week, three-year-old Princess Charlotte returns to Willcocks Nursery School and five-year-old Prince George will go back to Thomas's Battersea, where he will be starting in Year One.

Despite the drama, it seems they'll be heading back to the classroom in some shiny new shoes.

Meantime, it's been revealed Kensington Palace won't be releasing any pictures of Prince George as he returns to the classroom this September, according to The Sun.

It's a big day for the future king, but as Hello! reports, his parents Wills and Kate are planning to mark it away from the public eye.

"Prince George's time at school is private and although the Duke and Duchess shared an image from his first day at primary school last year, they won't do it every year," Hello! reports.

The couple made a similar decision during his time at nursery in Norfolk, when they only shared portraits after his first day at Westacre Montessori in January 2016.

Kate and William are following royal tradition with their choice to keep George's school days separate from his public life.

There are only a handful of photos of William and his brother Prince Harry in their uniforms.

But we imagine we'll be seeing George soon enough, when he attends Princess Eugenie's wedding to Jack Brooksbank on October 12.

In the meantime, he'll be taking up a few new subjects as he settles into Year One.

In Reception, he studied French, computing, art, music, drama and ballet, but the new school year will introduce subjects such as science, history, geography, maths, English and PE.

George will also be given more homework … 10 minutes of reading is usually set for each evening.
