Karting club counts down

ACTION will return to the Sandy Creek Raceway on February 12 when the Warwick Karting Club hosts its first open meet of 2012.

The club has events in nine months of the year - January, June and October are the only months missing from the calendar but that won't stop drivers honing their skills with plenty of laps at Sandy Creek and heading to meetings elsewhere.

There are seven monthly open meetings a year, a two-day pro tour meeting on July 21-22 and the Christmas meeting on December 8.

The club has just been through a massive two years with a track extension and championship meetings which attracted hundreds of drivers.

Warwick Karting Club has a large number of Warwick-based members but plenty from out of town who take positions and travel to working bees to make this club one of the best in the state.

Often well-known racing car and bike riders come to meetings as karting is a sport where many professional drivers and riders started their careers.
