Junior league kicks off

WARWICK-based clubs Collegians and Eastern Suburbs will meet in round 1 of the Warwick and District Junior Rugby League at Collegians Oval tomorrow.

Warwick and District president Glyn Rees said numbers were encouraging across the league.

"Collegians and Wattles clubs have the most at this stage and we are still encouraging players to sign up," Rees said

Seven clubs will again play in the league, including the combined Inglewood/Millmerran club, Millwood.

Wattles has the first-round bye.

Border Bears, a team which represents Tenterfield, Texas and Wallangarra clubs, will be at home to Millwood at Rugby League Park, Tenterfield. Goondiwindi will host Stanthorpe.

Finals rotate between clubs and this season Inglewood will host semi-finals on August 11, Suburbs will host preliminary finals on August 18 and grand finals will be played at Tenterfield on August 25.
