Junior cricket a 'good excuse for fun', says young player

Junior cricket: While the skies darkened, the rain held off for the most part for Stanthorpe Junior Cricket on Saturday.

While the final game's conclusion was quickly followed by a significant downpour, players still squeezed a good game in.

Nick Lawer, 10, enjoyed the good game of cricket.

Nick said he'd been enjoying the season so far.

"It's a good way to get out and socialise and play with your mates,” Nick said.

Nick said batting was his favourite aspect of the game.

On Saturday, he was doing that with great skill, but said he also came up against some stiff competition.

"There are different bowlers, and they put up a bit of a challenge,” Nick said.

Nick said he played Milo In2 Cricket, for the younger players, for one year and was now in his second season with junior cricket.

"It's just a good game,” he said.

Nick said his brother, Will Lawer, also enjoyed the game.
