Junior citizen of the year

FOR such a young person, this year's Junior citizen of the year already has a long list of achievements under her belt.

Liana Allen served as Stanthorpe State High School captain and was a member of the Southern Downs Youth Leaders for three years.

She is a Queensland Country Women's Association volunteer and helped at the Stanthorpe nursing home.

She said she was delighted to receive the award.

"I'm just so thankful that I was chosen and nominated,” she said.

"It's really made my day.”

She said her passion for her community was what inspired her to become involved in all these committees.

"I just wanted to be able to make a difference and help people in my community and I heard about (the youth council) and jumped on board and loved it ever since.”

She also took the time

to thank Tracy, who nominated her, as well

as her parents.
