Jasmine set for challenge

JASMINE Watts will be trading her tidy tray for a bunch of text books on Monday as she has her first day at high school.

The former West State School senior will don her crisp new uniform and lace her brand-spanking leather converse as she begins year 8 at Warwick State High School.

"I am a bit nervous because it's a much bigger school than I am used to," Jasmine said.

A number of her friends will also be attending Warwick High, making it a little less daunting.

Jasmine said English was her favourite subject and although she showed talent as a writer, she had another career plan in mind.

"I want to be a dance teacher and own my own dance school," she said.

Mrs Watts said she was a proud mum watching her daughter take the next step in her life.

"It's a new milestone and it's so exciting watching them become young adults," Mrs Watts said.

"This is the time when they learn to shine in their own way."

Today's tip

Mrs Watts said when preparing your child for high school, it was important to have books, stationary and uniforms organised and ready.
