It's all about blooming colour for the lips this season
MUCH like the blooming flowers of spring, this summer's make-up trends are brightening up with an ample burst of colour.
Maybelline New York make-up artist Nigel Stanislaus says this summer is going to be all about sun-kissed, shimmery and luminous skin, with a beautiful top lash and pop of colour on the lips.
Think perfect skin with Katy Perry or Nicki Minaj style lips.
This is a style that can be easily fine tuned and toned down to work for all ages and lifestyles.
Opt for a chalky pastel pink in either a bold opaque or sheer for a softer look.
A few shades that are on trend include MAC's clean pastel pink Saint Germain $39.95, Revlon Sky Pink $21.95, Maybelline Fuchsia Fever $16.95.
And, Clinique has a Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm that comes in a few different pink tints, for $35.
If you're feeling adventurous, neon and berry pinks are also hot on the catwalks.
A simple splash of lipstick can do wonders to brighten your face.
An important point to remember when using a bold lip shade is not to overload your face with other make-up. Try to keep the focus on your lips.
Avoid using too much blush or eye shadow and instead opt for big black lashes, facial highlighting or soft bronzing.
A little highlighting on the top of your cheeks bones, brow bones and nose ridge will give a more radiant skin tone.
Add a tiny amount of highlighter to your cupids bow, at the middle of the top lip, to make your smile pop.
Some popular highlighters include Benefit $45 in High Beam, Sun Beam or Moon Beam and NARS's The Multiple for $60.
A light bronzer with a slight shimmer will also do the trick, and is a little more budget friendly.
When used correctly bronzer can make you look naturally tanned, but don't go too dark and always blend, blend, blend.
Don't be afraid to get feminine this season.
