Council's hairy trimming job

IF YOU thought it was all about planting flowers and mowing for the Southern Downs Regional Council Parks and Gardens crew, think again.

Things got a little more complicated when the crew recently ventured out to trim the overgrowth along the winding roads at Queen Mary Falls.

A council spokeswoman said the trimming job was done to keep the road safe for drivers, but also posed a challenge for council workers.

"Slashing is not just about keeping the grass down on the side of the roads, as you can see," she said.

"It's a 3D job - verge, sides and canopy."
