How some football fans abuse women doctors in the EPL
THIS week horrifying footage emerged of the sexist verbal abuse directed at Chelsea's doctor Eva Carneiro from football 'fans'.
In a clip posted on to YouTube but since removed, Carneiro is met with a barrage of sexist chanting as she walks along the sidelines of the pitch at Old Trafford.
"Get your t*** out for the lads," the crowd chants in the video, while one male voice shouts "show us where you p*** from, you s***".
In a separate incident, posted on Vine, Arsenal fans chant at Carneiro "have you ever had a Gooner up you're a***", while she treats a player on the pitch.
The videos have come to the attention of the Football Association, which called on fans to report any incidents of sexist abuse.
"Dealing with sexism in football is something which needs to be tackled by all in the game," said Heather Rabbatts, chair of the FA Inclusion & Advisory Board.
In a statement to the Guardian, the Women in Football campaign group said:
Women in Football are appalled that sexist abuse has been allowed to thrive, unchecked, around some of the country's most iconic football stadiums. We are gravely concerned at a lack of action on this issue, and the negative message this sends to women in the football industry. We urge the authorities to put sexism at the heart of football's anti-discrimination agenda, alongside all the other strands that it must also tackle.
