Key man: Ben Barba
Up the ante: Sam Thaiday
Forecast: Recruited well with Ben and Marmin Barba, and Daniel Vidot tipped to fire behind a pack containing Sam Thaiday, Ben Hannant and newcomers Martin Kennedy and Todd Lowrie. Still a big question mark on the new halves combination.
Finish: 13th
CANTERBURY BULLDOGS
Coach: Des Hasler
Captains: Michael Ennis and Frank Pritchard
Notable gains: Reni Maitua (Eels), Chase Stanley (Dragons), Pat O'Hanlon (Eels), Kayne Brennan (Dragons), Damien Cook (Dragons), Tyrone Phillips (Rabbitohs)

Key man: Josh Reynolds
Up the ante: Tony Williams
Forecast: Too much quality in this team, the 2012 grand finalists, to have another below-par season. Will need more energy from tireless pivot Josh Reynolds on the back of a mobile forward pack featuring Sam Kasiano, Tony Williams and James Graham.
Finish: 5th
NORTH QLD COWBOYS
Coach: Paul Green
Captains: Johnathan Thurston and Matt Scott
Notable gains: Lachlan Coote (Panthers), Cameron King (Dragons), Hezron Murgha (Northern Pride), John Asiata (Roosters), Matthew Wright (Sharks)

Key man: Johnathan Thurston
Up the ante: Jason Taumalolo
Forecast: Have been hit hard at fullback with Matt Bowen leaving and replacement Lachlan Coote (knee) to miss a minimum of six months. Could also be found short at hooker, with Ray Thompson and Cameron King yet to fully prove themselves in that role.
Finish: 10th

ST GEORGE ILLAWARRA DRAGONS
Coach: Steve Price
Captain: Ben Creagh
Notable gains: Gareth Widdop (Storm), Sam Williams (Raiders), Joel Thompson (Raiders), Mike Cooper (Warrington Wolves), Dylan Farrell (Rabbitohs), Josh Ailaomai (Roosters), Matt Groat (Wests Tigers), Peter Mata'utia (Knights), Michael Witt (London Broncos), Willie Mataka (Illawarra Cutters)

Up the ante: Mitch Rein
Forecast: Were terrible in defence against the Rabbitohs in the Charity Shield and Dragons fans should prepare for another disappointing season. Too many one-dimensional forwards. Steve Price likely to be the first coach sacked this season.
Finish: 14th

PARRAMATTA EELS
Coach: Brad Arthur
Captains: Jarryd Hayne and Tim Mannah
Notable gains: Will Hopoate (unattached), Lee Mossop (Wigan), Nathan Peats (Rabbitohs), Corey Norman (Broncos), Justin Hunt (Rabbitohs), David Gower (Sea Eagles), Brenden Santi (Wests Tigers), Toby Evans (Panthers), Evander Cummins (Dragons), Liam Foran (Salford), Ben Roberts (Storm)
Notable losses: Reni Maitua (Bulldogs), Cheyse Blair (Sea Eagles), Jake Mullaney (Salford Red Devils), Pat O'Hanlon (Bulldogs), Matt Keating (Burleigh Bears), Taulima Tautai (Wakefield), Matt Ryan (Wakefield)
Up the ante: Chris Sandow
Forecast: At the constant revolving door out Parramatta way, new coach Brad Arthur is one of the few positives. He is big on discipline, and the Eels will need plenty of that this year. Plenty of doubt over enigmatic halves Chris Sandow and Corey Norman.
Finish: 16th

NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS
Coach: Wayne Bennett
Captain: Kurt Gidley
Notable gains: Russell Packer (Warriors - registration refused), Clint Newton (Panthers), Michael Dobson (Hull Kingston Rovers)
Notable losses: Danny Buderus (retired), Neville Costigan (Hull Kingston Rovers), Kevin Naiqama (Panthers), Peter Mata'utia (Dragons), Siuatonga Likiliki (Titans), Will Smith (Panthers), Russell Packer (sacked)
Up the ante: Kurt Gidley
Forecast: Enough experience to make the bottom half of the top eight again, but an ageing forward pack could mean an early finals fade-out. Have plenty of points in a red-hot backline though with Darius Boyd, James McManus, Dane Gagai and Akuila Uate.
Finish: 7th
PENRITH PANTHERS
Coach: Ivan Cleary
Captain: Kevin Kingston
Notable gains: Jamal Idris (Titans), Peter Wallace (Broncos), Jamie Soward (London Broncos), Elijah Taylor (Warriors), Brent Kite (Sea Eagles), Kevin Naiqama (Knights), Tyrone Peachey (Sharks), Shaun Spence (Wests Tigers), Will Smith (Knights), Leilani Latu (Bulldogs), Wellington Albert (Lae Tigers, PNG).

Up the ante: Jamie Soward
Forecast: Recruited superbly across the park with Jamal Idris, Peter Wallace, Jamie Soward, Elijah Taylor, Brent Kite and Tyrone Peachey to add plenty to an improving attack. Finished the season strongly in 2013 and should make the top eight.
Finish: 8th
SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS
Coach: Michael Maguire
Captain: John Sutton
Notable gains: Joel Reddy (Wests Tigers), Joe Picker (Raiders), Chris Grevsmuhl (Cowboys), Kirisome Auva'a (Storm), Lote Tuqiri (Leinster, Irish rugby union)
Notable losses: Nathan Peats (Eels), Roy Asotasi (Warrington Wolves), Matt King (retired), Michael Crocker (retired), Andrew Everingham (Japanese rugby), Justin Hunt (Eels), Dylan Farrell (Dragons), Jeff Lima (Catalans Dragons).
Up the ante: Beau Champion
Forecast: After consecutive preliminary final losses, one could almost argue it's now or never for the Rabbitohs. This team has hunger, an outstanding coach and a plethora of attacking options.
Finish: 2nd

CANBERRA RAIDERS
Coach: Ricky Stuart
Captain: Terry Campese
Notable gains: Lagi Setu (Storm), Kyle O'Donnell (Panthers), Kurt Baptiste (Broncos)
Notable losses: Blake Ferguson (released), Joel Thompson (Dragons), Shaun Berrigan (retired), Sam Williams
(Dragons), Sandor Earl (banned - length pending), Joe Picker (Rabbitohs), Jonathon Reuben (Roosters).
Up the ante: Terry Campese
Forecast: We have pencilled in the enigmatic Raiders to finish just outside the top eight, but who really knows with this team? Coach Ricky Stuart promised plenty and delivered little at the Eels - can that change back at his former club?
Finish: 9th
SYDNEY ROOSTERS
Coach: Trent Robinson
Captain: Anthony Minichiello
Notable gains: Remi Casty (Catalan Dragons), Jackson Hastings (Dragons), Jonathon Reuben (Raiders), Sio
Siua Taukeiaho (Warriors), Heath L'Estrange (Bradford), Curtis Naughton (Bradford), Kem Seru (Dragons)
Notable losses: Josh Ailaomai (Dragons), Martin Kennedy (Broncos), Adam Henry (Bradford Bulls), Michael Oldfield (Catalans Dragons), Luke O'Donnell (retired)
Up the ante: Mitchell Pearce
Forecast: It looked like nothing had changed at the Bondi club over the off-season after an impressive 36-14 win over Wigan in the World Club Challenge. Their aggressive pack looks unstoppable at the moment and the Roosters are poised to be the first team in the NRL era to win back-to-back titles.
Finish: 1st
MANLY SEA EAGLES
Coach: Geoff Toovey
Captains: Jamie Lyon and Jason King
Notable gains: Cheyse Blair (Eels), Josh Starling (Rabbitohs), Delroy Berryman (Broncos), Jayden Hodges (Cowboys), Tyson Andrews (Mackay Cutters), Dunamis Lui (Broncos), Jack Littlejohn (Bulldogs), Mark O'Dare (Titans), Manaia Rudolph (Tigers)
Notable losses: Brent Kite (Panthers), George Rose (Storm), David Gower (Eels), Joe Galuvao (retired), Jacob Gagan (Sharks), Richie Fa'aoso (retired)
Up the ante: Glenn Stewart
Forecast: Quite simply, a model of consistency choc-full of representative stars. Always a tough, hard-working side which means, to beat them, opposition sides will have to be at their best.
Finish: 3rd

CRONULLA SHARKS
Coach: Peter Sharp (appeal of Shane Flanagan's provisional ban pending)
Captain: Paul Gallen
Notable gains: Blake Ayshford (Wests Tigers), Matt Prior (Dragons), Eric Grothe Jr (unattached), Daniel Holdsworth (Hull), Jacob Gagan (Sea Eagles), Tinirau Arona (Roosters)
Notable losses: Jayson Bukuya (Warriors), Jon Green (Broncos), Tyrone Peachey (Panthers), Ben Ross (retired), Mark Taufua (retired), Chad Townsend (Warriors), Stewart Mills (Broncos), Ben Pomeroy (Catalans Dragons), Jon Green (Broncos), Matthew Wright (Cowboys)
Up the ante: Bryce Gibbs
Forecast: Too much uncertainty at the club with the ongoing ASADA investigation and the standing down of Shane Flanagan, someone his troops loved playing for. Plenty of skill in the back row should put them on the fringe of the top eight.
Finish: 11th

MELBOURNE STORM
Coach: Craig Bellamy
Captain: Cameron Smith
Notable gains: George Rose (Sea Eagles), Travis Robinson (Panthers), Cody Walker (Easts Tigers), Hymel Hunt (Titans), Felise Kaufusi (Cowboys), Cameron Munster (Central Queensland), Dayne Weston (Panthers), Ben Roberts (Eels), Joel Romelo (Bulldogs)
Notable losses: Gareth Widdop (Dragons), Maurice Blair (Titans), Jason Ryles (retired), Brett Finch (retired), Junior Sa'u (Salford Red Devils), Lagi Setu (Raiders), Jurusine Auva'a (Rabbitohs), Matt McGahan (rugby union)
Up the ante: Ben Hampton
Forecast: Ben Hampton or Cody Walker have a big job ahead of them, filling the premiership-winning Gareth Widdop's boots in the No.6 jumper. Losing the experience of Jason Ryles, Brett Finch and Maurice Blair won't help, but still good enough to make the top four.
Finish: 4th
WESTS TIGERS
Coach: Mick Potter
Captain: Robbie Farah
Notable gains: Pat Richards (Wigan Warriors), Dene Halatau (Bulldogs), Cory Paterson (Hull Kingston Rovers), Martin Taupau (Bulldogs), Blake Austin (Panthers), Keith Lulia (Bradford Bulls), Yileen Gordon (Newton)
Notable losses: Benji Marshall (rugby union), Blake Ayshford (Sharks), Lote Tuqiri (rugby union), Joel Reddy (Rabbitohs), Eddy Pettybourne (Wigan Warriors), Matt Groat (Dragons), Jacob Miller (Hull FC), Brenden Santi (Eels), Shaun Spence (Panthers), Mosese Pangai (Raiders), Manaia Rudolph (Sea Eagles), Yileen Gordon (released)
Up the ante: Braith Anasta
Forecast: Still need time to develop its young backline, and there are questions over a smaller than average forward pack. The loss of Benji Marshall is huge, with veteran back-rower Braith Anasta needing to step in at five-eighth.
Finish: 15th
GOLD COAST TITANS
Coach: John Cartwright
Captains: Nate Myles and Greg Bird
Notable gains: Maurice Blair (Storm), Kalifa Faifai Loa (Cowboys), Siuatonga Likiliki (Knights), Paul Carter (Bulldogs), Christian Hazard (Rabbitohs), Brad Tighe (Panthers)
Notable losses: Luke O'Dwyer (retired), Hymel Hunt (Storm), Marmin Barba (Broncos), Jordan Rankin (Hull), Mark O'Dare (Sea Eagles), Matthew Russell (Warrington), Jamal Idris (Panthers)
Up the ante: Dave Taylor
Forecast: The Titans have a team that can beat anyone - it defeated the Roosters and Bulldogs last year and took the Storm to golden point. But consistency has long been a question mark. Much will depend on the team's attitude.
Finish: 12th
NZ WARRIORS
Coach: Matt Elliott
Captain: Simon Mannering
Notable gains: Sam Tomkins (Wigan), Jayson Bukuya (Sharks), Chad Townsend (Sharks)
Notable losses: Elijah Taylor (Panthers), Steve Rapira (Salford Red Devils), Russell Packer (Knights), Todd Lowrie (Broncos), Sio Siua Taukeiaho (Roosters), Bill Tupou (Raiders), Pita Godinet (Wakefield)
Up the ante: Feleti Mateo
Forecast: One of the most devastating rosters in the league - on paper - with huge backs and skilful back rowers.
Coach Matt Elliott needs his left-field ideas to work at the business end of the season. Definite improvers.
Finish: 6th
