NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS

Forecast: Enough experience to make the bottom half of the top eight again, but an ageing forward pack could mean an early finals fade-out. Have plenty of points in a red-hot backline though with Darius Boyd, James McManus, Dane Gagai and Akuila Uate.

PENRITH PANTHERS

Coach: Ivan Cleary

Forecast: It looked like nothing had changed at the Bondi club over the off-season after an impressive 36-14 win over Wigan in the World Club Challenge. Their aggressive pack looks unstoppable at the moment and the Roosters are poised to be the first team in the NRL era to win back-to-back titles.

Finish: 1st

MANLY SEA EAGLES
