Here's your chance to see your town on the Monopoly board

MONOPOLY fans, this one's for you.

To celebrate the 80th birthday of the iconic board game, Monopoly is giving you the chance to see your favourite place on the board.

The world's most popular game is going global and Queensland's iconic small towns are invited to take their chance to secure a place alongside some of the most famous cities across the globe.

With new edition Monopoly: Here & Now: The World Edition revealed, a worldwide vote has been unleashed to decide which places will get the 22 spots on the game board.

Fans have until March 9 to decide what cities, both big and small will be on the board and who will compete for the final two spaces.    Fans are also invited to nominate locations not on the initial list.

Here's where you come in. The destinations and cities with the most submissions during the time frame will then be featured as the two brown property spaces in the new game.

The complete list of winners will be announced on March 19, the game's official birthday.

Hasbro Australia hoped Sunshine Coast residents would get behind their favourite suburbs by visiting votemonopoly.com to cast their vote.    Once you make your vote get others on board by hashtagging #votemonopoly on Facebook and Twitter.

The game is expected to be released in September 2015 with iconic landmark tokens and new game play where players race round the board to visit as many locations as possible while collecting stamps along the way.

Players will also be able to collect cash from visitor fees and the first player to fill their passport wins.
