Guns, Black Hawk choppers in midnight G20 'show'
AUTHORITIES preparing for this month's G20 Leaders Summit have staged a midnight training operation at Brisbane's Eagle Street Pier, with reports of speed boats, Black Hawk helicopters and personnel firing blanks from semi-automatic weapons.
At least 50 armed people dressed in camouflage took part in the operation which ran from late on Sunday night to about 2am Monday.
It is understood Black Hawk helicopters dropped the participants on to the training site and speed boats were also used.
Brisbane television cameraman Eddie Norbido said none of the personnel wore any identifying clothing to indicate which agencies they were part of.
"They fired a number of blanks. It was quite authentic and a very professional show."
