Growing at Glen Aplin state school

THIS term certainly has been busy at Glen Aplin.

It was great to march in the Apple and Grape parade and be part of our community event.

Glen Aplin's Very Hungry Caterpillar received a first place in the school's Colourful Carnival Characters section and a second place in the school's float section.

This term we were also fortunate to have Lorin Nicholson come to the school and speak to the students about leadership, challenging yourself and overcoming difficulties to achieve great things.

Lorin became blind when he was young and has had to overcome many challenges to achieve success.

On Friday we participated in the National Day of Action, saying no to bullying.

Students played co-operative games and thought about ways we can be kind to each other at school.

Posters have been made by the students to be displayed throughout the school to raise awareness and to encourage everyone to be kind.

All classes have been focusing on developing our reading and comprehension skills in our whole school literacy blocks.

After analysing our students' results we can see improvement in our whole school reading already.

On the last day of this term we will be holding our whole school cross country in preparation for the District Cross Country in Term 2.

This is a great way to finish the term and we will be looking forward to an exciting Term 2.
