Groovy Grannies to give back to oncology unit
THE Groovy Grannies are on a mission to make a difference in cancer research.
This year, the quirky Warwick ladies group is hosting a Bohemian Jazz Breakfast during Jumpers and Jazz to raise money for the St Andrew's Hospital Oncology Unit.
Groovy Granny Lynn Lane said this year was the third year the group had held a fundraising event during Jumpers and Jazz.
"Normally we do Relay for Life, but because we're not doing it this year we have arranged for our donations from the breakfast to support the St Andrew's Oncology Unit," she said.
Several of the Groovy Grannies themselves know first-hand just how important the oncology unit at St Andrew's is.
"We feel there are so many from Warwick and Stanthorpe who have used the oncology unit," Mrs Lane said.
"We want our money to go toward these services to help people."
One of the highlights of the breakfast will be a visit by one of the site managers from the unit.
Mrs Lane said the guest would give a talk about the unit and how it helps cancer patients and their families.
The breakfast will be held on July 29 from 7am to 8.30am at Gardens Galore.
There will be music by the Blue Violets, a hot smorgasbord breakfast and plenty of lucky door prizes.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children under 12.
The tickets are available now at Gardens Galore.
