Grass fire started at Mingoola

FOURTEEN fire units responded from Queensland and New South Wales to a grass fire at Glenlyon Dam Rd, Mingoola, at 1.54pm Saturday.

The fire started outside the Sundown National Park but moved into the national park east of Texas.

There were concerns about some houses in the vicinity but this was soon alleviated.

By 8.22pm Saturday, the fire was contained on the western front.

A Queensland Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said the fire was still burning in inaccessible areas to the east on Saturday night.

"National parks officers were on scene on Sunday."
