TEN softball teams played their first game for the season on Monday.

Matt Murphy from the Granite Belt Softball Association said it was great to see so many players sign up for the sport.

"Everything went well and everyone seemed happy with it all,” Murphy said.

"Our numbers are up this year. Last year we only had seven teams. The interest has been really good.”

Before the season started, the goal was to form ten teams but with the good response this year, Murphy is hoping to fill an eleventh team.

Murphy said Monday would be the last chance for anyone interested in playing softball to sign up.

There is still 18 weeks of softball to go so come and sign up at CF White on Monday at 5.45pm before the first games start.

Anyone over the age of 13 years is allowed to play. Cost will be $60 for 13 to 17-year- olds and $90 for adults.
