THE Royal Queensland Wine Show meant great success for local winemakers.
The competition's Awards Presentation and Trade Tasting took place last week.
A number of Granite Belt wineries claimed medals including Summit Estate Wines, Ridgemill Estate and Ballandean Estate Wines, Symphony Hill Wines and Just Red Wines.
Symphony Hill Wines won ten medals and two trophies.
The Symphony Hill Wines Gewurztraminer 2016 won the trophy for the Best Single White Varietal of Show.
The Lendlease trophy for the Most Successful Queensland Exhibitor of show was also awarded to the Ballandean winery.
Symphony Hill winemaker winemaker Mike Hayes welcomed the success.
"We have taken (the most successful Queensland exhibitor trophy) eight out of nine years now,” he said.
"It was a very good show for us.”
Mr Hayes thanked Symphony Hill wine making team, including Tom Battle, Ian Dopson and Jayden Imms, and owners Ewen and Elissa Macpherson.
"We give 100% to every wine we make,” he said.
Mr Hayes also congratulated Just Red Wines on their trophy.
Tony and Julia Hassal and their son Michael have been making wines at their Granite Belt property together since 2003.
Mr Hassall said he was thrilled to have received the Courier-Mail Best Queensland Wine of the show at the prestigious 2017 Royal Queensland Wine Show.
"We are very proud of our 2015 Shiraz Viognier and weren't surprised that it received a gold medal,” Mr Hassal said.
"But to gain the trophy for the best Queensland Wine was a pleasant surprise and is icing on the cake for our hard work.”
Mr Hassal said took pride in making wines that came exclusively from grapes grown on their Ballandean vineyard.
"It was great to see Symphony Hill also picking up a couple of trophies in the show,” he said.
"The achievements are a credit to the Granite Belt wine industry which is now producing some stunning wines.”
Meanwhile, Paola Cabezas Bono of Robert Channon Wines claimed the show's Winemaker Bursary.
More on her achievement in Tuesday's Border Post.
