Gourmet Traveller lists Granite Belt among best

IT APPEARS Granite Belt wines are once again making a name for themselves on a global platform.

The Granite Belt region made it on to Gourmet Traveller's 50 Top Wine Experiences in the world.

The list boasts the Granite Belt has "a number of family-owned, boutique wineries crafting charming chardonnays and stunning shiraz. Even riesling rises to the occasion.”

Author Daniel Honan recommends taking a "self-guided road trip throughout this uniquely cool, high-country (1000 metres) wine region, stopping in at Ballandean, Symphony Hill, Rumbalara, and Ridgemill Estate wineries, just to name a few”.

"Don't miss Jamworks Gourmet Foods, outside Glen Aplin, with delicious local preserves, jams and relishes,” he said.

The Granite Belt is listed amongst world-renowned regions including Champagne in France, Tbilisi in Georgia and Italy's oldest winery in Tuscany.
