Six Aussies including Jason Day bound for FedEx Cup

WITH the regular season done, six Australians will turn their attention to the lucrative FedEx Cup play-offs, which begin this week in New Jersey.

PGA Championship winner Jason Day, sitting at No.2 on the Cup standings behind only Jordan Spieth, heads the Aussie contingent.

With the top 125 players qualifying for the four-event play-off series, Day will be joined by fellow Aussies Steven Bowditch (22), Marc Leishman (50), Matt Jones (55), John Senden (88), and Adam Scott (94) in The Barclays, which starts at the Plainfield Country Club in New Jersey on Thursday.

After failing to make the cut, fellow Aussies Cameron Percy (150), Geoff Ogilvy (154), Aaron Baddeley (157), Greg Chalmers (172), Robert Allenby (187), Rod Pampling (192), Stuart Appleby (201), Jarrod Lyle (209) and Mark Hensby (217) will now need to go to qualifying school or rely on exemptions and sponsor's invitations to get starts next season.

Of the six Aussies to line up in The Barclays, only Senden and Scott have featured in the finals every year since the concept began in 2007.

The top 100 players on the standings after The Barclays will be eligible to contest the second event in the FedEx Cup series, the Deutsche Bank Championship.
