Gun-toting Gold Coast bikie arrested in Ipswich

LESS than 24 hours after being released on bail, alleged Bandidos bikie Leonard David Toalei has found himself in trouble with the law again.

The 27-year-old was arrested by Ipswich police yesterday, after officers were called to his bail address in Goodna in relation to a disturbance.

Toalei appeared in handcuffs in Ipswich Magistrates Court later that day for allegedly breaching one of his numerous bail conditions. The heavily tattooed Samoan had been granted bail just one day earlier, after almost two years on remand in maximum-security prison.

He had been arrested in Southport in June 2013, after allegedly firing a gun inside a taxi and then embarking on a series of violent assaults.

In opposing bail yesterday, police prosecutor Sergeant Brad Dick said Toalei posed an unacceptable risk and endangered the community's safety.

Sgt Dick also noted at the time that Toalei appeared to be suffering from a drug-induced mental disorder.

The matter was adjourned and will be heard again today.
