Go home trolley, you're drunk (and not under arrest)

WHISPER: Court reporter tells of a case some years ago where a couple of young and over zealous constables had booked a young couple on a charge of stealing after they were sprung walking a shopping trolley full of groceries from the Hooper Centre to their nearby digs.
The couple told the magistrate they didn't have a car and seeing as they only lived down the road, thought they'd save the cost of a taxi fare.
The understanding magistrate ordered no penalty.
However, it does remain the fact that shopping trolleys belong to the shopping centres and that they shouldn't be just taken and discarded on the footpaths of Toowoomba, but returned to the centre from whence they came.
Sort of like this one (pictured) that has been parked in the pathway to the Toowoomba Police Station watch house in Hume St for two days this week .
