Girl hit by car near St George

A NINE year old girl has been hit by a car on the Carnarvon Hwy, 6km north of St George.

Early reports suggest the girl was struck by a vehicle just after 6pm last night.

Paramedics responded to the scene and said the car was suspected to be travelling at high speeds when the impact occurred.

The girl was transported to St George Hospital with suspected head injuries.

She was later flown to the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in Brisbane.

UPDATE: The the nine-year-old girl is in a good condition and is recovering from minor injuries.
