Get the BEST of both worlds
TWO integral businesses have been streamlined, with BEST Employment and BEST Harvest Labour Services now linking up under the same roof.
Victoria St has been "bestified”, but while both offices fall under the same title, they each have something different to offer the Stanthorpe community.
BEST Harvest Labour Services is a specialist harvest recruitment agency that links people looking for seasonal harvest work in the Granite Belt regions, where growers often have difficulty finding sufficient workers at harvest time.
BEST Harvest manager Linda Clutterbuck has been part of BEST's success since obtaining the contract in 2009.
"Our office is available seven days per week for farmers needing workers. Just give us a call and we will link either the most suitable local workers or backpackers for your seasonal jobs,” MsClutterbuck said.
"We guarantee to check people's work rights within Australia and will notify growers if we discover anyone working illegally.
"We have many great farms in the region and surrounds that we send workers to, but are always happy to help new growers as well.
"The main difference between BEST HLS and BEST Employment is that we have access to thousands of backpackers on working holiday visas that are very keen to work and happy to do even one day at a time, versus locals looking for more long-term, permanent work within the region.”
BEST Employment has held a presence in Stanthorpe for more than 15years, providing a range of community and employment services.
"We help alleviate your time with our knowledge of local labour market needs,” Penelope Weatherall, BEST Employment Stanthorpe performance manager said.
"(We're) about solutions and connecting people with supports for employment. Our goal is to help all those who want a job, find a job.
"We provide ongoing employment initiatives designed to increase growth, productivity and retention, building a prosperous community.”
While the BEST sites in Stanthorpe are different, they still both represent BEST's company values, BEST chief executive officer Penny Alliston-Hall said.
"In the employment and recruitment industry, it isn't always what you do differently but about continually striving to be better.
"Through talking with clients, understanding our industries and knowing our case loads, we are able to identify and meet the needs of both jobseekers and employers,” Ms Alliston-Hall said.
