Garden extravaganza returns to brighten your day
FEW things evoke happiness or bring out a smile quite like a perfectly manicured garden or new blooms.
So expect to see a few cheerful grins tomorrow and Saturday as Stanthorpe's annual Gardenfest returns.
"I have always said that one has to admit that the Stanthorpe district certainly presents climatic conditions which can make any attempt at gardening frustrating,” Stanthorpe Garden Club president Ian Jackson said.
"It must be said that gardeners are a cheerful lot, very optimistic by nature but always willing to take on a challenge. If you want to live a long and healthy life, gardening is the way to go.
"What better way to recharge those primeval urges of tilling the soil and growing something, than attending the number one garden event on the Southern Downs and Granite Belt - the 2018 Stanthorpe Gardenfest and Trade Fair,” he said.
Gardenfest is free of charge and is being held at Christian Fellowship, 207 Amosfield Rd, from 9am to 4pm on Friday and Saturday.
"The Garden Club extends an invitation to all gardeners and those interested in this most rewarding hobby and recreational pastime to come along and enjoy the experience,” Mr Jackson said.
