Future of festival up for discussion
MORE than 50 years into its life, the Apple and Grape Harvest Festival is set for a shake-up.
One of Queensland's premier festival events, the committee behind its organisation is calling on the community to lead the festival into a new era.
A public meeting has been called for tonight with festival president Greg Thouard wanting fresh ideas brought to the table.
"There have been many changes to the format of the festival since its inception in 1966 and the current committee would like the community to have a say in the direction the festival should take,” Mr Thouard said.
Nothing is off limits, with ideas of whether to drop events, bring in new ones, how to best promote the festival and how to fund the festival all to be discussed.
"Be involved to go forward,” Mr Thouard said.
The meeting will be held in the Stanthorpe RSL conference room today (October 11) from 7.15pm.
