Fundraising with a pinch of fun

THINGS got a bit fishy at the Royal Leyburn Hotel last weekend when families and friends gathered for the annual Family Yabbie Races.

About 28 children participated in three kids' races, while almost 35 adults joined in the fun with four races of their own.

While all the kids went home with prizes, some got their claws on a few more than others.

The event raised $190.90 for the Leyburn State School P&C.

According to organisers, people came from Warwick and even Brisbane to support the event.

Organisers also thanked sponsors The Royal Hotel Leyburn, Glenmar Fuels, Collins Hay, Clifton Real Estate, Leyburn General Store, Leyburn Timber Craft, Grassmere Pty Ltd, Clifton Courier and the Warwick Daily News.

"Thanks also to everyone who helped me with suggestions, arrangements and with your hands-on help today," Renae Whittaker said.

"It was much appreciated by everyone."

Plans are already in place to ensure next year's event is even bigger.

Anyone wishing to help can contact Iris Moy at The Royal Hotel Leyburn.
