Forever in our hearts

On April 17, 1989 Caroline Bell entered the world at the Warwick Base Hospital. Daughter of Cheryl Hogan and Noel Bell, this cute baby girl had fuzzy blonde hair and a boisterous personality.

Family members describe Caroline as being "spoilt" with love and can still clearly remember seeing the delight on her face as she was sped around the house in her pram.

Growing up, Caroline's passion for adventure and fun grew. Whether it involved driving, camping, horse riding or dancing, Caroline was always the first to give things a go. She spread happiness wherever she went and always put others before herself.

At 17, Caroline met a strapping young man named Bryce Dieckmann. From this moment on the couple shared the wonder of young love, living life to the fullest and creating memories that would last forever.

During this time the couple grew together, establishing their outgoing lifestyle and cemented their place within the family.

In 2009, with great joy Caroline and Bryce brought their own baby boy Blake into the world. The bliss however, was interrupted when the couple received unbearable medical news.

Exactly 12 months after giving birth to Blake, Caroline was diagnosed with an extremely rare cancer. Being such a unique case, doctors knew very little about the cancer or exactly how to treat it.

With so many questions left unanswered, Caroline fought against all odds, mustering tremendous strength and determination to continue living her life with great passion.

Those close to Caroline often heard her say, "There's a lot of people worse off than me".

Even though her health significantly declined at the beginning of 2012, Caroline had set her mind on marrying Bryce, her "one and only" soul mate.

With overwhelming support from her family, friends and the entire community, Caroline's wish of becoming Mrs Dieckmann came true on the February 8.

The couple wed at a small private ceremony in Caroline's ward at the Warwick Hospital. Despite being extremely ill and bed bound since the start of February, Caroline's determination showed once again as she promised Bryce she would be at their wedding reception on February 11.

Sure enough, Caroline arrived at the reception in her mobile hospital bed, full of happiness and ready to make the most of her night - and that's exactly what she did. This was the Caroline that people came to know and love unconditionally.

Just a day later, Caroline passed away peacefully with her new husband by her side. Bryce said he can now constantly feel Caroline's spirit with him.

"She was always so accepting of others. I always knew she had a big heart but now I know it was actually a million times bigger after everything she went through".

Caroline's spirit will continue to live on through her son Blake, who Bryce is determined to raise into the best man he can be. "I'm looking forward to the day we can share our first beer together, and I know Caroline will be watching".

This article is a small tribute to Caroline Dieckmann, a beautiful young woman who continually touched the lives of those around her.
