Loud A-League voices predict Melbourne victory

SOME of the A-League's biggest names have voted in favour of Melbourne Victory winning the A-League grand final against Sydney FC at AAMI Park this Sunday.

The hosts are aiming for a third championship title.

Perth's Andy Keogh said the Victory's organisation under the reigning A-League Coach of the Year should get them home.

"I like their manager, Kevin Muscat, and I love the way they attack," he said. "They've got (Besart) Berisha (pictured) up front, who can score a goal at any moment. I think they will be just a little bit too good."

Central Coast's Nick Montgomery said he believed the Victory would win a close one.

"Sydney is in good form ... but Victory's front-four are very potent and, on the night, I think Victory will shade it," he said.

Socceroos boss Ange Postecoglou reckons the game could rival the epic 2011 finale when the team he then coached, Brisbane, scored two late goals in extra-time, before winning the penalty shoot-out.

"I'm tipping Victory because they're at home and I think they've been the best team all year. But it'll be exciting, a tight one, and might even go to extra- time and penalties," he said.

Adelaide United goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic, whose team lost 4-1 to Sydney in last Saturday night's semi-final, however, couldn't split the teams.

"It will be close. I think it will be a draw and then the best 'keeper on the day in the shoot-out will win," he said.

Winning the Johnny Warren Medal brought Wellington striker Nathan Burns some consolation after his team's A-League finals fade-out.

Burns, who took out the competition's biggest individual prize on Monday night ahead of Adelaide United's Marcelo Carrusca and Victory's Fahid Ben Khalfallah, said: "I'm buzzing and very honoured."
