As the weather begins to cool down, the start of the football season continues to approach.

The season will kick off next Saturday, and Football Stanthorpe president Chris Haynes said they are all looking forward to it.

"It'll be great to get some games going and get some kids playing,” Haynes said.

"It's always great to kick off because there's always a lot of work getting that (first) game going.”

Haynes encouraged everyone to get out and support their teams.

He also encouraged anyone considering playing.

"If you're considering playing come along and watch a club and sign up,” Haynes said.

All grades will play in the first round on Saturday, April 22.

Games will kick off from 8.30am with the juniors.

The first round is:

City v United atCF White

Inter v Ballandean at Inter Club

Tenterfield v Carlton at Federation Park, Tenterfield
