Floods deplete charity's stockpile
A Warwick charity is appealing for donations of linen and blankets after last week’s floods exhausted all its supplies.
When Slade Campus and the Warwick Indoor Recreational Centre (WIRAC) were opened as evacuation centres to house stranded travellers and flood-affected residents, the Lighthouse Community Centre quickly supplied the centres with bedding.
Hundreds of evacuees would have been grateful for the comfort, however the centre used up its stock.
Lighthouse co-ordinator Pam Fletcher said the centre provided emergency relief to those in need.
“We depleted our supply of bed linen and blankets as it all went to the evacuation centres,” she said.
Despite a shortage of supplies, the centre will still endeavour to help anyone who needs it.
Ms Fletcher said people should come to the Lighthouse, at 37 Guy Street, on Tuesday.
