First jump-outs at track in decade
WARWICK Turf Club president Garry Adcock is hoping trainers bring at least 40 horses to Allman Park on Sunday for the first jump-outs at the track for a decade.
Adcock said there were currently a lot of trainers from the Downs transporting horses to Ipswich to get a jump-out on grass.
“Trainers prefer to start horses on grass,” Adcock said.
“The majority of races are on the grass so they want to test horses on the same surface.
“A number of Toowoomba trainers have indicated they will be participating in the jump-outs.
“Some Warwick trainers have travelled to Dalby, Toowoomba, Gatton or Ipswich for jump-outs and I am hoping for strong local support.”
The first jump-out will be at 9am Sunday and over 700 metres.
Adcock said the number of horses in each jump-out would depend by the number of horses that showed up.
“Generally speaking, four or five is a good number for a jump-out,” Adcock said.
“Depending on the success of the morning, the committee may decide to have ongoing jump-outs at Allman Park. Members of the public are welcome.”
