Fighting to move barriers
ANGRY Leyburn residents are continuing to vent their frustrations over the controversial race barriers lining the town's streets.
One Leyburn resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said he and others in the town were considering legal avenues to have the barriers removed.
The man said he believed the town's ratepayers were not being looked after by the Southern Downs Regional Council.
"I think the council has to do the right thing and issue a notice to have the committee remove them immediately," he said.
"They shouldn't be here. They have water and mosquitos in them and it's an environmental hazard."
"We don't want them here. We are never going to accept them and we want them gone."
The man said the streets of Leyburn were constantly used as a race track by local revheads.
"I came here to live in peace and quiet and I have them right in front of my house," he said.
"We don't want them here. Leyburn is not a race track."
