Field of pink ready to take to the tee for charity golf day

GOLF: The annual Heritage Bank sponsored Stanthorpe Charity Golf Day will return again, raising money to support breast cancer research.

Held on Saturday, October 8, the golf day will again take place at the Stanthorpe Golf Club on Amosfield Rd.

Heritage Bank branch manager Wendy Maitland said the Heritage Bank team was looking forward to again supporting the day and the cause, one which was close to the heart.

"It's something that we have done for a few years, it's something that our customers have been affected by,” she said.

Everyone will tee off for a shotgun start at 11.45am.

The day costs $20 per person to enter for 18 rounds.

Participants are encouraged to get into the theme, dressing in their most pink outfits to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer.

Mrs Maitland said if the day was anything like last year's event, there would be some great costumes not to be missed.

"People have a lot of fun,” she said.

"Last year people got so dressed up, it was great.

"It's just a good cause and we'd love to see as many people come out and support it.”

Prizes will be available for a number of categories.

Best dressed male and female in pink, best male and female players and eight pin prizes will all be up for grabs, as well as prizes from the raffle.

The golf day last year raised $650 and all proceeds from this year will again be donated to the Stanthorpe Cancer Support Group.

Light lunches will also be available for purchase on the day.

Golf buggies may be hired from the club for $30 and each buggy fits two people.

Players are asked to register either during the week or on the day before 11.15am.
