Family on the fairways

PETER Drewery plans to drive from Toowoomba twice a month to play at the Warwick Golf Club this year.

On New Year's Day, he was at the club with his brother Jeff and uncle Phil Drewery.

Phil, a member of the club, plays each Saturday.

He currently plays off a handicap of 10 and has a best score of four over 73 on the Warwick course.

While the trio played four or five social rounds in 2011, there will be a lot more family golf this year as Peter has joined the Warwick club as a country member.

Neither Peter or Jeff are members of a Toowoomba club.

"We come to Warwick so we can play a round with our uncle," Peter said.

As he has just joined the club, Peter is yet to be allocated a handicap but that will happen early this year.

"I will play twice a month in Warwick, perhaps a bit more," he said.

As for the best shots by the trio, Phil has the perfect answer.

"Anything that goes straight," he said.
