Family affair for Hell of the West

THE Ferdinand family beat their target times in the Hell of the West Triathlon at Goondiwindi by almost one hour on Sunday.

Michelle swam the 2km in 37 minutes, 42 seconds after setting a target time of one hour.

She said the first of three laps in the lagoon was tough due to the number of swimmers in the water.

"There were legs and arms everywhere, it was a bit confusing early on," Michelle said.

"I did get a break when we ran up the ramp twice between laps.

"My best time in training was 50 minutes so I was shocked with my time.

"My biggest shock was getting out of the water and seeing so many swimmers still in the water"

Her husband Peter covered the 80km ride in 2 hours 52secs and then their son Mark finished the 20km run in a time of 1hour 40mins.
