Drugs and ammunition found after police intercept vehicle

POLICE seized a significant quantity of drugs following a vehicle intercept in Molendinar overnight.

About midnight last night police intercepted a vehicle in Trade Court.

The driver was detained and during a search of the vehicle police allegedly located 1.5kg of cannabis, other drugs and a small quantity of ammunition.

A passenger in the vehicle ran from police but was later tracked to a yard on Production Avenue by the dog squad.

A search of the track taken by the man resulted in police finding a firearm silencer.

A 25-year-old and a 24-year-old man were each charged with two counts of possessing a dangerous drug and one count each of possessing a drug utensil or pipe and authority to possess explosives.

The 24-year-old was also charged with one count each of unlawful possession of a weapon, obstructing police and trespass. He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on August 24.

The 25-year-old man is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on September 8.
