Drug dad pleads guilty

AN INGLEWOOD man who used his step children as alleged slaves to grow between $60-100 million worth of cannabis has changed his plea to guilty.

Michael Bennett Gardner Snr had pleaded not guilty in Brisbane Supreme Court last week to trafficking in cannabis between June 1 2004 and December 17, 2008

In a dramatic back flip Gardner Snr indicated to Justice Ros Atkinson he wished to change his plea.

Gardner Snr was representing himself but the court heard he will be represented by barrister Greg McGuire at his sentence hearing.

A date for that hearing will be set down April 3.
