Dr Mike has 21 reasons to smile

A 21st BIRTHDAY is considered a milestone and a cause to celebrate for just about everyone, even for the guy we all dread to visit.

This week senior dentist, owner and manager of Southern Downs Dental, Mike Geisel, and his staff celebrated the practice's 21st birthday.

"I spent five years with the Queensland School Dental Service, four years with the Australian Regular Army as a captain and dental officer, then a few years in private practice working for others before moving to Warwick in 1991," Dr Geisel said.

"We bought the practice from retiring dentist Paul Hegerty for several reasons: he was ready to sell, it was already such a well-established practice in a great location and we really liked the town."

Dr Geisel said 21 years on he still saw a lot of Dr Hegerty's patients.

"People were very accepting and are still coming," he said.

During the years Southern Downs Dental has relocated four times as the practice expanded.

"We have no plans to shift again as we just purchased the building from original owners Warwick Friendly Society," Dr Geisel said.
