Double murder case: jury goes out

THE jury in a double murder trial involving two Ipswich men has begun deliberations.

Zachary Michael Moloney and Luke Michael Jackson have been on trial in the Brisbane Supreme Court after pleading not guilty to murder.

The pair is accused of the stabbing deaths of Gladstone 18-year-old Brandon Matthews and Ipswich 22-year-old Brad Girling.

Mr Matthews and Mr Girling died from stab wounds following a fight in Hill St, North Ipswich, in January, 2012.

Mr Moloney and Mr Jackson have spent the past fortnight on trial.

Friends and family of the victims and defendants have packed the courtroom each day to sit through confronting evidence.

Yesterday morning, the jury retired to begin deliberations on whether Mr Moloney and Mr Jackson are guilty or not guilty of murder or manslaughter.
