Doors close on store

THE mood was jovial as the Food for Less Warwick staff prepared to close the doors of the supermarket for the last time last night.

Store manager, Adrian Maynard said most importantly everyone had a job to go.

"We have 20 staff here, 18 are heading up the road to Woolworths, one is going to Stanthorpe (Woolworths) and I am heading to Pittsworth," he said.

The store was originally opened in 1985, under a different name and while it may have been the end of an era, Mr Maynard said the team could take away something special.

"We have a record for safety," he said.

"Its 9507 days no loss time injury, that's 26 years."

Mr Maynard said while he had only been at the store for the last six months, it was great to work with the team.

"I have to say a big thank you to all of them," he said.

"And I wish them all the best."
