Dickerson to join Mountaineers

TOOWOOMBA player Charles Dickerson will light up the competition court at WIRAC on Saturday night in a pre-season game for the Toowoomba Mountaineers.

Warwick-based player Michael McDaniel joins the Mountaineers team, which is coached by Pop Dickerson.

This game will give the Mountaineers a chance to form as a squad and for players to prove themselves before the season starts in six weeks’ time. This gives Southern Downs residents the opportunity to see state-level players at their best.

“Warwick doesn’t usually have games of this level turn up on its doorstep,” Warwick basketball president Lehi Clark said.

“Having Jeff (Clark, of Warwick) as one of Pop’s assistant coaches has really opened up this event and made it a possibility. There is usually a lot of travel and expense for Southern Downs residents to see a game of this calibre.”

Charles Dickerson comes with an impressive resume. He has just returned from the Australian under-19 titles where he was named runner-up MVP.

Warm up is at 6.30pm and tip off at 7pm.
