Deb tradition still strong after eight decades
ONE of Stanthorpe’s longest running traditions continued on Saturday evening with the Debutante Ball.
For 83 years girls have taken part in the social coming of age.
Pulled together this year by Danielle Hannigan, she said a lot of effort went into making the event a success.
“Only a small group of girls this year, but the committee ensured that the ball was just as spectacular as every year,” she said.
“A lot of effort from volunteers goes into making the ball a success, both in the practices and decorating, and in operating a fun and successful evening.”
More than 180 people attended the ball, with a further 75 in the viewing gallery.
Official party was Mr and Mr Lister (MP), Mr and Mrs Brown (St Joseph’s), Ms Kelly from the Stanthorpe State High School, plus Dr and Mrs Manahan, and Father Brian Connolly.
