Day shines for Hamilton

JOSH Day has won the Gordon Affleck Memorial Trophy for all-round champion at Warwick State High School swimming carnival last Friday.

He scored 54 points in the 16 years age group for Hamilton house, the most of the meet.

Day also set a new record in 50m breaststroke with a time of 33.48 seconds, breaking the record of 35.83 set by Karl Wendt in 2003.

The engravers will be busy with the Pearl Galloway Cup as three girls, Aimee Van Der Hulst, Shenee Coleman and Bree Perry shared the trophy for champion girl in all strokes with 50 points.

Hamilton scored 646 points to win the house trophy from Leslie on 465, Barnes on 407 and Cunningham 389.

Leslie won the relay trophy by one point from Hamilton.
