DAY 9: Girraween fire burns within containment
UPDATE 3.45pm:
PARKRANGERS are reminding residents that Girraween National Park is completely closed due to the Wallangarra fire.
Public Information Officer for the Wallangarra Fire Katie Mann said there had been reports of people attempting to enter the park despite closures.
Currently Pyramids Rd which leads to the park entry is completely closed in both directions.
Ms Mann said the fire was still burning within containment lines within Girraween National Park.
"We still have crews out on the ground monitoring those containment lines and strengthening them where they need to.
"We're working with council on a recovery plan.
She said there will be some crews out tonight monitoring the fire with Queensland Parks and Wildlife.
No backburning is scheduled however may occur if deemed necessary.
Residents are reminders will be a community meeting at Ballandean Hall, New England hwy, tonight from 5pm to give an update on the fire and start discussing recovering efforts.

FIREFIGHTERS worked another sleepless as they continued the battle with the Wallangarra fire.
A QFES spokeswoman said fire crews spent the night monitoring and backburning to strengthen containment lines.
"They were also patrolling existing containment lines," she said.
"It's currently contained to Girraween National Park."
The New England Highway in Jennings has been reopened since its closure last night, however Pyramids Rd remains closed in both directions.
