Local suits up at tournament

WARWICK golfer Dale Mullins has beaten top players from Brisbane, Toowoomba and Dalby to win the suit on offer to the gross winner of the Warwick Credit Union Canning Downs Open Golf Tournament on Sunday.

In the only 27-hole tournament of the year on the Warwick course, Mullins hit three over par, 106.

He won by one shot from Toowoomba pennant player Nigel Weldon on 107.

After 18 holes, Toowoomba club member Anthony Tims and Mullins were both two over.

Tims faded away in the final nine holes to finish six over.

Weldon was four over after 18 holes and had par on the final nine holes.

Mullins was over the moon to win the suit sponsored by Warwick Credit Union.

Warwick junior Jay Roberts won the best nett with 98.

Patsy McIntosh was the ladies winner from runner-up Anna Cox.

The event attracted 68 players, which included the club champion from Griffith University Golf Club in Brisbane.
