Daddy blogger: This is for the day drinker named 'Dick'

Daddy blogger Lach Searle was waiting at a Melbourne airport bar when he kindly accepted a drink from a stranger.

But within seconds the widowed dad-of-two regretted ever starting a conversation with the man, he now refers to as 'Dick'.

The Daddy Letters writer could only compliment the man for buying him a drink, because it all went downhill from there.

Lach published a letter to 'Dick' on his blog and Facebook slamming the man for his engaging disrespect towards his wife and two kids at home.

"Your lack of respect for your wife, and your children was abhorrent in the ten minutes that we spent chatting and I just hope that your 10-month-old daughter doesn't grow up to marry someone like you," Lach wrote.

Lach, who lost his wife two years ago, wrote the letter hoping it would reach Dick to teach him - or his wife - a lesson.

Lach says the man complained about his wife 'busting his balls' and admitted he was deliberately drinking at the bar to avoid going home after being away for a couple of days.

"If I go home now the kids will be being fed, and it will be crazy…" the man told Lach.

"So I'll wait here for an hour or so, then have the hour cab ride home… and then things will have settled down… and the wife won't be at me to help out.'

The man had two children -a three year old and 10-month old.

In the open letter, Lach explained to the man that there is "nowhere in the 2017 manual that says male chauvinism and calling woman 'bitches' is acceptable".

Lach, a father of a boy and girl aged five and four, who lost his wife from an "incredibly rare" blood infection after 12 years of marriage, wished he had shared his story with the ungrateful man.

"At this point Dick, three questions into our conversation, I knew you were a dickhead, but the real intriguing thing was just how carefree you seemed to be about it. You seemed to own it, and inflame it… and assume that bragging about it would somehow impress me," he wrote.

"What were you hiding from? Was it guilt perhaps? Was it fear? Was it a lack love for your wife and two children? Who knows, but somehow I hope you can find out what it is, and sort it out… quickly.

"For your sake firstly, but for those who you are supposed to love as well."

Lach went to a bucks party where everyone spoke about enjoying their wives and families

Outraged that the man was openly disrespecting women, the daddy blogger said the irony was there he was at the airport to meet 12 mates at a bucks party in Adelaide.

Luckily his faith in the Australian male was reinstated that bucks weekend.

"Sure it was fun, a little silly and a little loose at times, but there was certainly no disrespect of women, it was pretty cool to hear them talk about how their wives were looking after their kids… and were doing a great job of it… unprompted and unabashed respect. Something you should perhaps consider," he wrote.

"I struggle to think how you would have handled the conversation over the ensuing days, especially when things turned to more in-depth discussions such as the stolen generation, fertility treatment and the advantages of having three kids, over two… Fancy that, people who enjoy having a wife and family."

"The next time you decide to make your own 'new mate' at the airport, instead of going home to your wife and family after two days away… maybe you should re-think."

Lach tried to tell Dick, if he continues it won't be long until his kids think he is a dick too.

FYI. For those keen to know what Dick looked like… "He was late 30s, early 40s, dark hair, six foot two, fit-ish, slick but sleezy looking with dark rim glasses… More Ralph Lauren than Lowes".
